Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest.

Our mission to deliver honest financial products that improve lives extends beyond borders. Consumers across the globe need safe, transparent financing.

Our retail partners need Affirm to be there for them, wherever that might be. To help achieve this vision, we are expanding our product lines and becoming a global company.

We’re just getting started, and we’re looking for a strong product leader to take on this big challenge!

As a Senior Product Manager on the Affirm Banking & Card Foundations team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of consumer financial services and payments, with a specific focus on the seamless and trusted delivery of Affirm’s financial products through the card networks.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams, such as Engineering, Design, Analytics, Partnerships, and Marketing, as well as 3rd party banking, issuing, and processing partners, to define and build solutions that optimize, enhance, and scale both pay-in-full and financed payments through Affirm’s virtual and physical card products.

You should be outcomes driven with a very high bias for action, and should be undaunted by leading a high-growth product domain with multiple dependencies, both internal and external.

What you’ll do :

  • Develop and execute comprehensive product strategies for our card foundations and banking platforms.
  • Maximize the potential of Affirm’s existing physical and virtual product capabilities, and refine in-app, online, and in person Affirm Card user experiences.
  • Identify opportunities to improve our banking and card services network, enabling both larger and smaller scale projects.
  • Work closely with our banking, issuing, and processing partners to maintain healthy partnerships, unlock new product opportunities, and drive major initiatives.
  • Be a card and banking product expert. You are a trusted source on our card and banking platforms, with a deep understanding of the interplay between processors, issuing banks, and card network functions, including knowledge of various card constructs, economic structures, and, most importantly, how Affirm’s products fit and thrive within that ecosystem.
  • Deepen the team’s understanding of how various partners enable banking and card experiences on the platform and maintain a consistently great user experience across partnerships
  • Partner closely with analytics, design, and user research to identify and surface the customer pain-points in user experience, and identify opportunities for improvements.
  • Drive a balanced roadmap that’s informed by data, competitive analysis, consumer insights, and your own discovery.
  • Oversee the entire product lifecycle from ideation to launch, ensuring alignment with key stakeholders, and overall business objectives.
  • Collaborate with design, engineering, and analytics teams to prioritize features and ensure timely delivery of product initiatives.
  • Build for scale. Lead and guide product direction for a cross-functional team of engineering, analytics, and platform partners.

All with a platform mindset.

Interact effectively with senior leaders presenting insights and strategies that drive our company’s objectives.

What we look for

  • Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Knowledge of the banking / card issuing ecosystem, including key players, products, funds flows, and economics
  • Prior experience working on banking, card, or adjacent products
  • Product experience working with or in accounting / ledger domains a plus
  • Track record of experimenting and successfully launching at scale
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication with a diverse stakeholder audience
  • Very good at influencing leadership, cross-functional teams, and external partners
  • Solid technical chops that allow you to have in depth technical discussions and opinions
  • Excellent at identifying and prioritizing high impact initiatives
  • Experience managing technical software products from kick-off to post-launch
  • The ability to turn incomplete, conflicting, or ambiguous inputs into solid action plans
  • Excellent at establishing cross-functional relationships, tapping into those relationships and driving alignment with key stakeholders to make progress
