BC Emergency Health Services Chief Operating Officer

The Chief Operating Officer, BC Emergency Health Services (COO) reports to the Chief Ambulance Officer, Executive Vice President BCEHS and is a member of the BCEHS Senior Leadership Team (SLT).

The COO works in partnership with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and the Chief, People, Culture and Diversity (CPCD) to create an effective, integrated service delivery model, and to drive system-wide improvements needed to meet the growing demand for emergency services and to ensure consistent and equitable services across BC.

The COO improves efficiencies to reduce response times, reviews approaches for various call categories, works with health authorities to improve turnaround times, develops workforce strategies, and enables innovation in the way emergency health services are delivered.

The COO is accountable for providing executive leadership on strategic and operational issues in planning, monitoring, and evaluating province-wide emergency health services, including overseeing the BC Ambulance Service (BCAS) and Patient Transfer Services (PTS).

The COO works with the CMO and CPCD in a co-leadership model where they share responsibility for the overall people and performance of BCEHS.
