About the role
The position of Specialist, Servicing (Business and Portfolio Operations) focuses on the day-to-day servicing of complex multi-unit mortgage loan insurance applications.
In this role, you will lead risk management analysis, decisions and recommendations for approval of scenarios related to file-specific risk mitigation.
You will identify key risks and provide creative solutions to mitigate the risk to CMHC while providing exceptional client experience.
You will communicate and negotiate with clients / lenders to explore possible options and ultimately reach a solution that minimizes CMHC's risk exposure while seeking to deliver on CMHC's mission to help Canadians meet their housing needs.
What you'll do :
Coordinate all activities and other policy and procedures related to the successful operation of the multi-unit servicing project / portfolio for assigned projects.
These projects could be related to MU commercial business or various housing programs.
- Review and analyze recommendations provided from lenders concerning existing loans insured by CMHC, including covenant amendments, changes to special conditions, borrower's structure change requests, security releases and partial sales to make sure no additional risk is taken by CMHC.
- Complete a financial analysis of the borrower, assess market conditions, analyze the financial and operational performance of the property, and ensure CMHC continues to obtain adequate security on insured loans when reviewing requests from lenders.
- Offer advice, support and alternative creative or innovative solutions to clients and stakeholders, including the communication of key decisions, the interpretation of policies and the response to inquiries relating to mortgage loan insurance.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to manage and maintain complex and sophisticated external client relationships.
What you should have :
- Undergraduate degree in a related field such as business administration or commerce, with a concentration in accounting, finance or property management.
- A minimum of five years of experience in one or more of the following areas : real estate appraisal, business turnarounds, recoveries, housing finance and default management.
- Knowledge of risk factors related to mortgage loans for multi-unit loan insurance and housing programs.
- The ability to interpret appraisals, market and financial reports for multi-unit housing projects.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including negotiation skills and the ability to influence others.
It would be great if you also had :
- Certified Property Manager (CPM) or Certified in Real Estate Finance (CRF) designation or any other designation from the Real Estate Institute of Canada (REIC).
- Experience in data analytics, business analytics, financial modeling, with demonstrated ability to capture and synthesize information to develop recommendations and provide advice.
