Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Establishes and monitors preventative maintenance procedures for related equipment; recommends repairs and purchases as required.
- Reports safety concerns and major repair issues (e.g., furniture and fixtures).
- Ensures the general upkeep of the facility such as cleaning floors, washrooms, windows, dusting, collects and disposes of garbage, vacuums.
- Checks, cleans, moves, arranges, and dusts furniture as required.
- Ensures the general upkeep of external property such as keeping sidewalks clear of snow and ice, cleaning main floor outside windows, picking up litter, sweeping sidewalks, and watering.
- Checks doors and windows to ensure building and resident security; provides access to the facility and secures the facility as needed.
- Restocks washroom supplies and distributes received material as required.
- Spot washes accessible walls, and shampoos carpets as required.
- Monitor and maintain mixed cleaner bottles for custodial, front line and kitchen staff use. Ensure that all bottles contain WHMIS compliant labeling.
- Keep a log of all building maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of all supplies.
- Refer all Resident inquiries to front desk staff or Case Worker.
- Report to the supervisor safety concerns and major repair issues; new equipment that is required or broken equipment, which needs to be repaired or replaced.
Perform other duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS :
This is a permanent part-time position with 8 hours per week. Flexibility in scheduling is required. The work schedule is determined in consultation with your supervisor and may vary according to requirements of responsibility.
Applicable shifts include a ½ hour paid meal break.
Shifts : 12 : 00 p.m. to 4 : 00 p.m., Saturday to Sunday
May work with potentially aggressive clients.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS :
- High school diploma.
- Must have valid WHMIS, First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License and a current copy of a Driver’s abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
- Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE :
More than three months but less than one year of prior related experience, including life skills and general familiarity with cleaning and maintenance procedures.
SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES :
Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.
e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening.
Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
