An amalgamation of two prior shops dating back to 1978, the modern Maple Stamping as we now know it was formed in 2008 here in Concord, Ontario, Canada.

Role Summary

As a Stamping Press Operator, you are an integral member of a clost knit Press Shop Team that aspires on a daily basis to meet production targets, produce material of the utmost production quality, support team development through technical learning and continuously improve processes such as die change-overs and setting up jobs.

Our Facility is home to a vast array of die sets, and consequently a large production catalogue of jobs that can be run on our multiple heavy presses.

Our Press Operators are both technically strong, but also excel at working with people and promoting skills development among the supporting staff that help each press job run successfully.

As a Press Operator, your goal is to both achieve production targets to meet customer demand, while supporting a small team of employees assisting you at the end of the assigned press.

A number of our presses are also equipped with automated transfer systems. The successful candidate will bring a sense or urgency and dutifulness in their pursuit of the perfect shift.

Concerns or production issues must be escalated quickly to the Toolroom and other resources in order to get back on track as soon as possible.

Your eye for detail enables you to detect quality-related problems before they have an opportunity to spiral out of control or risk shipment of defects to customer facilities.

Lastly, it is key to note that Press Operators are expected to demonstrate the qualities that make for a great leader - accountability, a safety mindset, patience, empathy, the ability to coach others and the tenacity to get the job done right every shift.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform changeovers, die protection controls and related equipment for all progressive / transfer operations.
  • Capable of training others to perform related tasks using SWI process.
  • Lift, move, stack, pack visually monitor parts through an established process on Progressive and transfer dies according to SWI.
  • Capable of understanding and completing paperwork accurately.
  • Meets or exceeds production, quality and delivery outputs as prescribed by established
  • Complete Pre-Shift Press Safety Inspection ensuring compliance with all required Health and Safety procedures.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment that employs the use of heavy mechanical stamping presses, ideally 2-3 years.
  • Physically capable of performing essential duties of the job, including regular physical lifting of up to 30-35 lbs.
  • Background in manufacturing with press experience including quality and safety initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of the English language both written and oral.
  • Thorough understanding of production quality standards and defects common to a press shop.

Core Competencies

  • Procedure oriented able to follow procedures and requirements for start-up, Standard Work Instructions, completing paperwork accurately, etc.
  • Strong work ethic through a thorough understanding of automotive quality and delivery requirements, meets production targets, quality and delivery goals as prescribed by established standards.
  • Willingness to learn new ways of doing things through an understanding of TWI, capable of learning SWI for multiple machines within Press department.
  • Organized prefers and keeps a clean and orderly work environment.
