Position Summary
The successful candidate will prepare, paint, decorate and protect interior and exterior surfaces, trimmings and fixtures in Division schools and buildings.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
- preparing painting surfaces by washing walls, repairing holes or removing old paint
- mixing, matching and applying paints and other finishes to various surfaces
- providing decorative and faux finishes as the project requires
- handling planning and prep work in an efficient manner
- preparing the surrounding area by covering with cloth or plastic
- moving furniture and equipment as necessary to reach the entire surface of the project
- calculating the amount of materials and time required for the project
- removing fixtures including light switch covers and plug plates
- taping off areas as needed
- cleaning up supplies and replacing fixtures when project is complete
Education / Qualifications
- Alberta Journeyperson or Red Seal Painter certificate
- valid Alberta driver's license
- experience working in a school or institutional environment
Skills and Abilities
- must have the ability to : lift up to 25k, climb ladders, work at heights, stand and walk for extended periods, perform work in awkward positions
- must be able to undertake tasks requiring good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- good problem solving, organizational, time management and record keeping skills
- excellent verbal and written communication skills
- computer literacy
- ability to work with a team or individually
