About the role
Join the Accounting Operations Team, in the Accounts Payable team, in the role of Senior Analyst, Accounting. You will be joining the team that ensures the timely verification and payment of financial transactions received from corporate transactional systems, invoices, and expense reports.
You will lead the processing of ongoing payment requests through the review of transactions and coaching of accounts payable team members.
You will help clients with their payment requirements and understanding of accounts payable team policies and procedures, as well as develop and implement financial initiatives on process improvement activities to achieve more effectively daily operational needs.
This position involves daily payment processing activities that occur during the mornings of the Eastern Standard Time zone.
The candidate needs to be available on a rotation basis starting from 8 : 00 am.
What you’ll do :
- Provide expert guidance and advice on activities and operations relating to accounts payable including payment / invoice processing, acquisition card program management, and vendor data management.
- Oversee, review, and ensure timely payments of vendor invoices, employee and lender claims, housing, subsidies, and lending programs, taxes, rentals, etc.
- Advise on implementing new financial policies, processes, systems and internal controls.
- Monitor and analyze control gaps (internal control framework), and advise on appropriate remedial action, as needed.
- Manage and review several assigned processes performed by the analysts such as the federal and provincial online tax payments, lending and subsidy disbursements, and daily cash forecasting.
- Understand and analyze current operational processes. Identify non-value-added processes and maps improved processes to recommend specific and meaningful improvements in efficiency.
- Support the Accounts Payable team, Manager and Director in complying with the external audit, including the maintenance of accurate and complete accounting records, timely provision of reports, explanations, data and related information, as required, to external auditors.
- Establish and maintain relationships with all clients, leaders, and other relevant stakeholders to gain a thorough understanding of the operations and environment, to facilitate collaboration in accomplishing finance tasks, and to influence complex business decisions.
What you should have :
- An undergraduate degree in a related field such as accounting, finance, business administration, economics or commerce.
- A minimum of three years of experience in accounts payable.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage several ongoing and competing projects to be successful in a high-stress, multi-demand environment.
- An excellent ability to gather and analyze information, synthesize key elements and summarize recommendations.
- The ability to take initiative, work independently and in a team environment.
- An understanding of financial statements and general accounting principles.
- A knowledge of relevant financial, legislative and regulatory environments.
- Bilingualism (English & French).
It would be great if you also had :
- An MBA or professional accounting designation (CPA).
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations (ERP software).
