Job Description

Summary

Join the Road to Recovery Initiative and become part of this first-in-Canada model of treatment that has the power to transform addiction care nationwide.

About Providence Health Care & the Road to Recovery Program :

Driven by compassion and social justice, we are at the forefront of exceptional care and innovation. As individuals within a mission-driven organization, many of us feel very close to our why.

We choose to be part of Providence Health Care because we value the organization’s long commitment to social justice and compassionate care, and its commitment to the process of Truth and Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples.

The Road to Recovery Program at St. Paul's Hospital is a leader in innovative addiction and substance use care. We offer a comprehensive continuum of services to support patients and residents in their journey to recovery.

From our Rapid Access Addiction Clinic to withdrawal management, in-patient recovery-focused beds, transitional housing, outpatient treatment, and beyond, the Road to Recovery program was designed to fill the gaps in the existing system, providing seamless access to the care individuals need when they need it.

The Road to Recovery program is committed to delivering wholistic and compassionate care, addressing the physical, social, psychological, and spiritual needs of our patients.

Why Join the Road to Recovery Program?

As a Nurse Practitioner with the Road to Recovery Program, you will play a vital role as part of the Addictions Medicine team in providing comprehensive and wholistic care to patients and residents battling addiction and substance use.

In this role, you will provide direct care for a cohort of patients accessing 25 acute substance use stabilization beds located at St.

Paul’s hospital. This will include both addictions (with Addictions Medicine Team) and the acute non-addiction related medical issues, broader primary care and chronic conditions management and some ongoing supports for patients as they move to transition beds also located at St.

Paul’s. You will be at the forefront of this innovative initiative, helping to address BC’s worsening toxic drug crisis.

The Road to Recovery Program focuses on connecting patients with the right care at the moment when they need and want it, rather than relying on lengthy waitlists and missing important windows of opportunity.

In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will provide professional guidance to other healthcare professionals, working autonomously and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Your role will involve making referrals to specialist physicians and other resources as necessary. You will collaborate with patients, clients, residents, and healthcare professionals to identify trends and patterns that impact the community's health and participate in evidence-based strategies to improve healthcare services.

Your involvement in policy-making activities will also influence healthcare practices.

What we offer :

Competitive Salary : Salary Range is $113,195 - $162,718, depending on experience.

Competitive Benefits : A comprehensive health benefits package including dental, vision, and life insurance as well as pension.

Dedicated time for non-clinical work : 0.3 FTE of time will be protected for non-clinical duties.

Innovative approach : Join our pioneering program, providing a comprehensive continuum of care and help to fill the gaps in the existing system.

Meaningful impact : Your dedication and expertise will directly impact the lives of individuals struggling with addiction, providing them with the support and care they need on their road to recovery.

Dynamic interdisciplinary environment : Collaborate with a world-class team of healthcare professionals who share the same passion and commitment to excellence.

Growth opportunities : We welcome individuals at all stages of their career, offering opportunities for professional development and growth.

Dedicated time (3-6 months) will be given for specialized training with internal medicine and the addictions team.

State-of-the-art facilities : Be part of the exciting growth of the program. The Road to Recovery Program will eventually house 100 beds, with the first phase focused on stabilization opening in fall of 2023 at the current St.

Paul’s Hospital. The unit will then transition to the state-of-the-art NEW St. Paul’s Hospital on the Jim Pattison Medical Campus when it opens in 2027.
