Director of Asset Protection - General Merchandise

Description

  • Strategic Asset Protection Planning : Develop and implement comprehensive asset prevention strategies and risk management plans to protect company assets, including merchandise, stores, head office, distribution centres and people.
  • Team Leadership : Supervise and lead a team, ensuring they are well-trained, motivated, and capable of handling loss prevention and security challenges effectively.
  • Talent Development : Build and nurture a high-performing asset protection team, focusing on talent retention and growth, as well as succession planning.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with cross-functional partners, including Operations, Supply Chain, and Loss Prevention teams, to align efforts and achieve company-wide asset protection objectives
  • Regional Support : Oversee case and field management activities across multiple regions, working closely with Regional partners and field leaders to address asset protection challenges.
  • Retail Crime Mitigation : Collaborate with local law enforcement and field teams to combat retail crime effectively, ensuring a safe shopping environment for customers and employees.
  • Loss Prevention : Develop, Implement and lead asset protection strategies to reduce inventory shrinkage and fraudulent activities, working closely with store leadership and loss prevention associates.
  • Physical Security : Oversee the design and maintenance of physical security measures, including surveillance systems, access controls, alarm systems, and perimeter security.
  • Emergency Response : Support emergency response processes, ensuring the safety of employees and customers during critical situations, such as natural disasters or security incidents.
  • Technology Integration : Stay at the forefront of asset protection technology trends and implement innovative solutions to enhance the security and efficiency of our operations.
  • Risk Assessment : Conduct risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and develop action plans to mitigate potential threats.
  • Compliance : Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to security and safety.
  • Vendor Management : Collaborate with vendors and contractors to procure and maintain equipment and services.
  • Incident Management : Lead investigations into security breaches or incidents, ensuring appropriate measures are taken and legal requirements are met.
  • Financial Oversight : Manage the budget for asset protection, including capital spending, analytics, and loss prevention initiatives.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in security management, criminal justice, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.

g., CPP, PSP, CISSP) is a plus.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in asset protection, loss prevention, or security management, with a demonstrated track record of success in a large retail environment.
  • Strong understanding of security technologies, risk management principles, and emergency response protocols.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and interact effectively with law enforcement agencies.
  • Knowledge of local, provincial, and federal laws and regulations related to security and asset protection.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess risks and develop proactive solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and security software.
