Supports the origination and management of the Market Structure, Corporate Banking portfolio that covers a variety of clients including investment dealers and other financial market infrastructure participants.

The VP, Corporate Banking coordinates with product partners throughout the Bank, as an integral part of a larger coverage team that maintains strong client relationships.

Key areas of focus include lending portfolio management and relationship management. This includes relationship origination and management, underwriting and ongoing management of a corporate lending portfolio and cross-selling of trading product and cash management products / services.

Contributes to growing / elevating the BMO and BMO Capital Market brand with a commitment to and presence in the community.

Operates as key member of the deal team with efforts to maximize sector penetration and returns.

Provides deal structuring expertise and negotiates transactions with clients.

Maintains key ongoing coverage contact with lending clients and sector managers.

Institutes cross-selling initiatives to increase ranking with client.

Creates pitch books for clients with respect to financial solutions and participate in their presentation to clients.

Monitors client, client industry and regulatory agencies for potential changes which may affect lending portfolio and business needs.

Initiates contact with partners for new client sales.

Partners with deal team and product specialists to provide client-oriented solutions

Prepares credit documentation (i.e. applications, memoranda, presentations, etc.) for internal stakeholders including Credit Risk, as well as for clients.

Directly manages a portfolio of private / public companies with progression toward increasing client responsibility.

Reviews and continually monitors performance of existing accounts and client relationships.

Identifies opportunities to diversify client portfolio.

Understands the needs of clients and provides relevant ideas and opinions to generate recommendations. Knowledge of CIRO or FINRA regulated broker-dealers an asset.

Obtains credit concurrence and coordinates pricing approval as client advocate.

Builds positive client relations through deep / comprehensive understanding of client needs and alignment of our products / services.

Identifies and leverages key decision makers and influencers in client / internal organizations.

Interprets client strategy and anticipates needs to deliver solutions.

Identifies opportunities for increased efficiency and improved service to internal and external clients.

Acts as a positive change agent to drive improved efficiency and effectiveness.

Maintains awareness of all firm products and services offered and facilitates means of receiving continuous updates.

Supports the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Builds effective relationships with internal / external stakeholders.

Ensures alignment between stakeholders.

Works with specialists as needed to support successful deal completion.

Uses financial analysis to proactively identify opportunities to cross-sell.

Generates updated financial models as business needs and industry requirements dictate.

Analyzes / assesses industry compilations.

Applies appropriate technical concepts and completes / leads consistent and reliable technical and financial reports / analyses to support client deliverables.

Completes due diligence and credit analysis on new and existing client relationships. Includes client visits, analysis of business models, and comprehensive review of industry trends and related regulations.

Breaks down strategic problems, and analyzes data and information to provide insights and recommendations.

Understand complexity of transactions and related risk (credit, market, operational, legal / compliance, etc.).

Balances the Bank's risk appetite with the client needs in making recommendations / proposal.

Provides feedback on, and, supports continuous improvement opportunities.

Identifies opportunities to find more cost-effective ways to impact the bottom line and drive profitability.

Integrates information from multiple sources to enable more efficient processes, enhanced analysis and / or streamlined reporting.

Reviews and guides work of Analysts and Associates to deliver business results.

Considers risk, internal controls, and compliance as part of day-to-day accountabilities and adheres to policies and procedures.

Provides specialized consulting, analytical and technical support.

Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.

Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations.

Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications :

Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in corporate / commercial lending, negotiating and structuring financial transactions, and relationship management

Undergraduate degree with focal areas of finance, economics, or accounting preferred with high academic achievement.

MBA or CFA an asset

Relevant experience with CIRO or FINRA regulated broker-dealers highly desired.

Good knowledge of BMO’s organizational lending and portfolio management policies and objectives highly desired.

Displays advanced deal execution and / or project management skills - ability to manage more than one client / major initiative.

Ability to create and deliver professional presentations.

Strong analytical skills. Expertise in financial computer applications and database management tools.

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure.

Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
