Supplier Quality Engineer

Description :

Supplier quality engineer will be involved in a variety of complex project work, including :

1) Supporting engineering manufacturing drawings from customer’s database, looking for quality improvements and developing solutions or providing suggestions to improve them.

Marking up the PDF drawings to reflect the changes. This requires a strong knowledge of GD&T, assembly processes and methods of manufacture.

Also required to be able to read the drawings effectively.

2) Preparing documentation for purchase of manufactured components. Drawings ,3D models and engineering specifications as well as nonconformance history will be required to be prepared, presented and explained to suppliers.

3) Managing projects and supporting components being machined or fabricated by suppliers or customers. Being able to follow and / or lead the process product qualification for the component.

This will be mainly supporting the change management process, purchasing, and technical paperwork involved in both. Travel is occasionally required, but the individual will utilize her / his interpersonal and communication skills to be able to deal with the suppliers, who may reside inside or outside of Canada.

Work will involve reviewing methods of manufacture and consulting with our customer for drawing (model) changes or helping in the manufacturing process as well as determining the capability of a targeted supplier.

Additional Skills & Qualifications :

MUST :

Bachelor in mechanical engineering or similar field

2-5 years of relevant experience

Ability to read and interpret product definitions (drawings) is a must together with the supporting material / process / quality specifications.

Advanced understanding of GD&T

Experience with managing non-conformances identification and sentencing

Experience in risk management

Experience in product and Process Qualifications / PPAP / or equivalent

Experience in root cause investigation processes understanding quality issue root causes, containment of the problem and implementation of corrective actions / solutions

ASSET :

Gas turbine engineering field is an asset (basic understanding of gas turbine, specifically turbine blades and vanes, component in terms of design, materials, functionality, special processes,
