The Compliance Associate, Contract, with guidance from the Manager of Compliance, will hold the primary responsibility for performing the fieldwork associated with the independent testing of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) and executing audit procedures to support the external auditor during quarterly, interim, and year-end financial statement audits.
Additionally, the incumbent will support several other compliance programs, business improvement initiatives, and ad-hoc compliance activities as requested
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Develops and updates testing procedures for year-round ICFR to mitigate risks based on an established process to identify and prioritize key risks, assess effectiveness of associated key controls and implement any corrective actions.
- Performs the independent control testing of internal controls over financial reporting for approximately 20 financial cycles (e.
g., Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Employee Central, Treasury, IESO Settlement, Unbilled Revenue, etc.)
- Validates observations and remediation activities with applicable control owners for effective compliance risk management.
- Prepares monthly status and compliance rate reporting for distribution to multiple internal stakeholders for effective monitoring of compliance metrics, highlighting areas of concern and improvement opportunities.
- Supports the external auditor to perform financial process walk-throughs, testing of internal control testing and substantive procedures, that are aimed at validating the accuracy of the financial statements.
- Assists external auditor in obtaining relevant data, documents, and buy in from requested business units.
- Supports the Manager of Compliance to validate the timely completion of management action plans for observations arising from Internal Audits, Internal Controls over Financial Reporting, Corporate Compliance and Accountability Officer reviews
- Identifies areas to improve efficiency of controls, processes, and documentation around core compliance work. Supports ad-hoc projects as assigned related to compliance
REQUIREMENTS :
- Undergraduate degree in Business or related field
- Complete or In-Progress Chartered Professional Accountant (strong preference for completion of the Common Final Exam)
- Three (3) years of progressive finance experience within external or internal audit related environments.
- Preference for a candidate with external audit experience in a large public firm and / or internal audit experience

Toronto Hydro has introduced a Hybrid Work Arrangement. This position allows for remote work up to three days per week, based on business needs.
Employees will be required to come onsite on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person.
