EllisDon carved out a new national construction group in 2021 with a focus on the construction of technical buildings such as Laboratories, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing facilities and Data Centers.

We have completed over $2.5B in Data Centre projects and $16B in Life Sciences and Pharmaceutical buildings, and we are strategically focused on the increased activity in these technical buildings post pandemic.

Within a year of inception, we have a successful backlog of over $500M and have secured projects across Canada.

This is an incredible opportunity to be a Planner & Scheduler for this new national construction group at EllisDon.

Please note : this role will be based out of Toronto and will require frequent travel to Quebec.

As a Planner & Scheduler, these would be your responsibilities :

  • You will be involved in the Planning of projects as a member of the Pursuit team, you will be responsible for reading and understanding the RFP bid documents (schedule-related contractual requirements, drawings and specifications).
  • You will be responsible for creating the Schedule for the Pursuit in Primavera P6, ensuring that the durations and relationships have been vetted by Superintendents, subtrades, and / or our internal Production Rates database (as required) and ensuring that the format, quality and content of the schedule meets or exceeds EllisDon's Best Practices.
  • Participate in developing and maintaining a database of construction productivity rates, procurement durations, lead times and project risk items
  • Identify unplanned events (new changes / unforeseen conditions) and incorporate their impacts into the schedule
  • Develop as-built versus as-planned schedules to provide a manageable "snapshot" comparison of the project schedule
  • You will be responsible for working with the project team to create the Baseline Schedule, ensuring that it meets or exceeds EllisDon's Best Practices in terms of format, layout, content and quality.
  • You will be responsible for updating the project schedule every other week for each project assigned to you, using information provided by the project team.

You will be responsible for reporting on the accuracy and reliability of the information provided, so occasional site visits will be required.

Update information will include as-built dates, short-term forecasting, changes / delays information incorporating schedule impact, and potentially some resequencing of work to match the current execution plan.

You will be responsible for reporting on the status of all active projects assigned to you, and occasionally for generating specific reports for project teams.

You will be responsible for attending and participating in internal project review meetings.

You will provide support to project teams by developing micro work schedules, what-if scenarios, Time-Impact-Analysis (TIA) schedules as required.

Is this the right role for you?

You have eight plus years of construction scheduling experience or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience;

building experience required.

  • You have experience working on data centre, and pharmaceutical projects.
  • You have a working knowledge of computer scheduling programs including P6, MS Projects.
  • You have the ability to manage the schedules for multiple projects simultaneously.
  • You have experience working as part of a construction project team i.e. Coordinator, QA / QC, Safety, Field Engineer, etc.

and have been exposed to on-site construction. Preference will be given to candidates with hands-on experience from carpentry, site superintendent, project manager, project coordinator, field engineer.
