Magento Frontend Developer

Toromont Cat is looking for a Magento Frontend Developer to join our team! As an experienced Magento frontend developer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the frontend of our Magento-based ecommerce websites and of some of our other websites that use a different CMS.

The candidate should have a solid understanding of Magento and be comfortable working with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.

In addition to maintaining our existing platforms, you will create new websites from the ground up that will offer complex capabilities to a B2B audience.

You will work closely with our other frontend and backend developers and will act as the lead frontend developer for all Magento websites.

In a typical day, YOU will :

• Build and configure Magento 2x / Magento Cloud / Adobe Commerce websites and collaborate with backend development team
• Design, create and implement custom Magento themes and templates
• Developing Magento modules in PHP and extensions using best practices to enhance functionality of Magento websites
• Develop and maintain frontend of our other non-Magento websites
• Understand Web Accessibility Standards (WCAG 2.0 level AA), stay up-to-date on accessibility best practices and implement fixes to be AODA compliant
• Optimize websites for performance, speed, SEO and scalability
• Troubleshoot integration issues and implement bug fixes
• Communicate project progress to project managers and stakeholders

Must-haves for this role :

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or similar discipline
• 3-5 years of experience in ecommerce / Magento web development
• Adobe Commerce Front-End Developer Expert Certification is an asset
• Comprehensive knowledge of Magento, JavaScript, HTML, PHP, CSS, and MySQL.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git
• Experience with responsive design, mobile-first development and modern UX / UI trends
• Experience with web accessibility and WCAG compliance
• Experience with complete eCommerce lifecycle development
• Knowledge of Google Tag Manager, SEO and QA Testing
• Good working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to project-manage and work to strict deadlines
• Ability to work in a team environment
