Job description

OVERVIEW

Vertex is currently seeking a full-time, permanent Senior Emissions Regulatory Professional to join our team. The successful candidate will be at the forefront of Vertex’s environmental innovation, managing and overseeing all aspects of our emissions regulatory compliance for our clients. This role is pivotal in developing and implementing cutting-edge strategies to ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local regulations related to air emissions, emissions verifications and validations and expanding into new areas including ambient air quality, dispersion modelling and purchasing new technology.

RESPONSIBILITES

  • Develop comprehensive emissions compliance programs, leveraging advanced Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) and air quality monitoring technologies.
  • Stay ahead of the curve by monitoring changes in emissions and air quality regulations, and advising internal staff on the impact of such changes.
  • Prepare and submit detailed emissions and air quality reports to clients and regulatory agencies, ensuring transparency and compliance.
  • Conduct rigorous emissions verifications, audits, and inspections as part of our ISO 14065 accreditation.
  • Maintain ISO accreditation procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with other Vertex departments to support emissions management and ambient air quality monitoring, fostering a culture of cross-functional teamwork.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to staff on emissions regulations, air quality standards, and compliance, nurturing an environment of continuous learning.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of new technologies for emissions reduction and air quality improvement, driving environmental innovation.
  • Design Alternative Fugitive Emissions Management Plans (Alt-FEMPs) using a variety of technologies, with a focus on reducing emissions and costs for clients in Saskatchewan and Alberta.
  • Identify areas of opportunity for the air team to expand business offerings, such as Fenceline monitoring, dispersion modelling, and the acquisition of new technology.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in emissions regulatory compliance, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, provincial, and local emissions and air quality regulations.
  • Experience with air quality monitoring and emissions reduction technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • This position will be based out of Calgary in our Downtown Location
