Position DescriptionEnglish Ministry Assistant Pastor Position (One Year Contract to Start)Preamble : This position is meant to meet the existing and future needs of the English Ministry. Our vision is to target the next generation of young adults and families. Critical to this vision is the building of our youth ministry so that this age group does not fall through the cracks, but ministered to in a meaningful way.For instance, in the next 6 years, the youth ministry (from grade 7-12) is projected to grow to over 60 people. This is simply biological growth from our vibrant and well attended children ministry which naturally will transition into our English youth ministry. Youth ministry requires much attention and effort to do well, especially when youth culture changes so rapidly. A flourishing youth ministry will be a key attractive point to many growing families making their decision to call Cornerstone Chinese Alliance Church their spiritual home.Further to the biological landscape, there are also new immigrant families from Hong Kong which will bring their children at a young age, will adapt, and adjust to new life in Canada. These children will also naturally transition into the English youth ministry when they become teenagers as their arrival to Canada at a young age makes it easy for them to adapt to the new language and culture. Finally, there will be some significant outreach opportunities in both our ministries and the nearby neighbourhood. We have many sports ministries in the church that can serve as vehicles for outreach to both friends and family. The church is also situated near the Aaniin Community Centre, and the York University Campus in Downtown Markham. This could serve as opportunities to reach out to our neighbourhood and community with the Gospel. Therefore, with the biological, immigrant, and outreach means of growth, the youth ministry can potentially become a large wave of people that requires detailed care and attention to minister well. A dedicated worker with the heart and passion for this group can build a great momentum where youth would naturally transition to post-secondary / university and eventually young adults which hopefully would form a critical mass of young families for the future of the church.Responsibilities : Outreach ministries, e.g., sportsDevelopment of future evangelistic programs and opportunitiesDevelop relationships with para-church organisations for the purpose of evangelismCommunity involvementTeaching and preachingSupport the youth ministry leaders and counsellorsOrganising and planning collective efforts to care for post-secondary students Requirements and Assets : MDiv.
