Destination Canada is looking for a Senior Board Liaison , to join our Ottawa team as we inspire travellers to explore Canada.
The Senior Board Liaison manages Board meetings, activities, and operations, ensuring adherence to organization’s governance framework.
The role also supports the Corporate Secretary in establishing and administering an effective corporate governance framework and a productive relationship between the Board and Management.

Note : The successful candidate will be working under Destination Canada’s Hybrid Working Model. This model requires all employees to work 2-3 days / week in the Ottawa office.
The remainder of the work week can be spent working from a home office.
DUTIES :
Manages and organizes all Board and Committee meetings and events. Responsible for all aspects of planning, logistics, and day-of support to ensure successful execution of meetings.
Manages development and delivery of meeting packages and materials.
- Attends Board and Committee meetings, prepare minutes and agendas, presents on governance related matters at meetings.
- Drafts memos, reports, resolutions, and governance documents such as by-laws and terms of reference.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for Board members. Provides guidance to Board members on organization’s Board policies and procedures.
- Identifies issues and provides recommendations to improve organization’s corporate governance framework, structure, and Board policies and processes.
Recommends and implements best practices.
- Ensures Board meetings and affairs are conducted in accordance with organization’s policies, governance framework and regulatory requirements.
- Monitors implementation of Board decisions and resolutions. Assists in communicating decisions to management.
- Maintains Board and corporate records.
- Plans and delivers new Board member orientations, arranges training for Board members.
- Provides high level administrative support to Board members, including travel arrangements and expense reimbursements.
- Manages Board events and expenses to ensure they are delivered within budget.
Essential Qualifications
EDUCATION :
Graduation from a recognized university in Business, Communication, Law or other relevant discipline or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience
EXPERIENCE : When applying, the candidate must clearly demonstrate in writing how they meet the following experience criteria :
- At least five years of relevant experience in corporate governance roles
- Experience providing Board services
- Experience in event and / or meeting planning
- Experience drafting documents and reports of a confidential nature
- Experience working with high-level senior executives, board members and / or government officials
KNOWLEDGE :
- Knowledge of the principles and best practices of corporate governance
- Knowledge of the operation of Board meetings and duties of Directors
- Knowledge of corporate records and reporting requirements in the context of a federal Crown corporation
- Knowledge of Destination Canada’s corporate governance framework, policies, mandate, and legislative framework
- Knowledge of project management practices and methods
- Knowledge of administrative procedures and practices
