JOB OVERVIEW
The Financial & Tax Reporting Analyst will be responsible for fund distribution and tax reporting.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Review monthly, quarterly and annual tax distribution and allocation cycle for mutual funds, ETFs and closed-end funds Review fund tax returns
- Review mock and final distributions calculation for year-end
- Review distribution rates against transfer agency system; including year-end tax factors and tax slips
- Ensure internal policies and procedures meet legislative requirements
- Act as a resource to internal parties to resolve tax issues
- Liaise with various government revenue agencies with respect to tax audits, tax installments and general correspondence
- Participate in tax-related operations projects as required, i.e. fund launches, fund mergers, fund termination, corporate actions etc.
- Complete tax documentation and forms (i.e. W8 BENE, CRS, W9, tax IDs)
- Review PFIC reporting
- Assist external providers in tax reclaim filing documentation and other information requests
- Assist marketing, sales, legal, client service and administration departments in tax-related inquiries
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- Minimum 3 years of financial services industry experience, especially Canadian Mutual Funds / ETFs, in various roles such as fund accountant and tax reporting analyst.
- Education level : BA
- Accounting designation is an asset
- Additional / special / professional courses : CSC
- Technical skills and level : Microsoft Office, MCH and E-Horizon, Reuters, Bloomberg
- General knowledge and level : Financial instruments / markets; (fund) accounting principles and practices, IFRS
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills
- Excellent attention to detail and consistent high level of accuracy
- Proven ability to work independently as well as with a team, under pressure and with time sensitive deadlines
- Self-motivated individual; flexible and adaptable; proactive; self-starter
- Sound professional judgment, professionalism and integrity
- Able to work in a high-performance culture
- Open to and comfortable with constantly evolving and changing priorities and new challenges
