Job description

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE

Reporting to the Senior Underground Mine Engineer, you will be part of the Engineering Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Conduct underground and surface surveys in addition to installation of survey controls;
  • Provide support for mark up of underground development, check line and grade established by contractor, and updating of relevant drawings using AutoCAD and Deswik software;
  • Confirm advanced development meters and excavation volumes for daily, weekly and month end reporting and assists in generating reports;
  • Monitor compliance of development advance with Project Schedule;
  • Confirm meters of advance and excavation volumes for daily, weekly and month end reporting and assist in generating reports;
  • Maintain survey equipment and survey supplies;
  • Confirm weekly ventilation audits and surveys provided by contractor and provide ventilation support including surveys, calculations and layouts;
  • Enforce audit action items with the contractors;
  • Work with contractors to conduct ground control quality tests and perform audits of installed ground support under the guidance of a geotechnical engineer;
  • Perform development face mapping of geotechnical and geological elements to update development layout;
  • Communicate development advance, survey, ventilation, ground control and schedule discrepancies to baseline to Project Team;
  • Attend to other duties beneficial to the project as the Project Team requires.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Two (2) years Engineering Technician diploma, Engineer in Training (EIT) or relevant education and / or experience considered;
  • Two (2) years mine surveying and ventilation experience;
  • Experience with CAD software (i.e., AutoCAD, Deswik) for mine plans;
  • Valid Class G driver’s license and common core;
  • Experience with scheduling software (i.e., Primavera, MS Project);
  • Strong collaborative, organizational, time management, data analysis and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong commitment to working in a safe, risk aware, and socially responsible manner;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (i.e., Excel, PowerPoint and Word).
