What you will do :

Reporting to the Supervisor of Legal Support Administration, this role supports the daily operations of the Legal Department and is the main liaison between the Support Legal Department and Legal Operations. In this role, you will manage an individual file load, prepare documents for court, and assist with some administrative duties.

More specifically, your duties will include :

  • Drafting small claims court documents (i.e., affidavits, default judgments, garnishments, liens, motions, terms of settlements, letters, etc.)
  • Reviewing and delivering on requests received through the internal email system
  • Reviewing and / or preparing various reports
  • Reviewing and acting on correspondence
  • Meeting all legal action process deadlines
  • Completing office supply orders as needed
  • Backing up various support staff
  • Working closely with various agents and court offices

Other qualifications include :

  • Possessing a Law Clerk Diploma
  • Familiarity with court documents and processes
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Previous experience in collections and / or small claims court procedure is preferred
  • Previous experience in a law firm or legal department is preferred
  • Bilingual (French / English) is considered an asset
  • Passing a criminal background check
