What could your day as Senior Software Developer hold?

You will be directly involved in the execution of Quester Tangent’s on-train application-level software, focusing on the design, implementation and test aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle. You will contribute to their event-based architecture using a solid understanding of C++ to implement against a Linux OS running on ARM.

Your expertise will be used to mentor and guide more junior developers to improve software process and quality, and you will collaborate with other groups in Engineering for scope clarification, software delivery, and field support. Participation in the design and cost estimation of features as well as working to identify root-cause and correct system level defects will draw on your technical expertise and experience.

Our ideal Senior Software Developer brings :

  • A Diploma or Degree in Software or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required.
  • Experience with load levelling a cross-functional team to meet multiple concurrent development activities of varying scope and size.
  • Experience with coding and debugging is essential, and C++and JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with software version control systems such as SVN, Git, Perforce.
  • A solid understanding of real-time computing in a multi-threaded environment.
  • Expertise in implementing and debugging network protocols using both TCP and UDP based protocols.
  • Knowledge of design for test methodologies, including white and black box testing.
  • Experience, Skills and Abilities that will help you thrive in the role :

  • 5+ years of software development experience, delivering a customized product to multiple clients.
  • Experience developing product roadmaps and estimation and load levelling efforts to support team allocations.
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent communication skills - both verbal and written.
  • The ability to innovate while creating maintainable and testable solutions is valued.
  • Occasional travel within North America may be required; candidates must have the ability to travel as needed.
