Under the general direction of the Inventory Control Director, the Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for the integrity and accuracy of the physical inventory to maintain average shrink levels at or below agreed upon percentage, by acting as a liaison for the retail locations, and different Head Office departments. He / she resolves inventory discrepancies due to turnover, staff reductions, transactional errors and the value of the merchandise. In addition, this position ensures that all operational and internal accounting controls are in place or are changed / updated dependent on observations and results during a physical inventory, weekly and monthly closing. The incumbent will also oversee the accounting management over the remaining non-perpetual inventories.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages all inventory counts / transactions from scheduling to variances reviews
- Processes Inventory Adjustments (unit & cost) by reviewing, analyzing and validating information accuracy prior to processing
- Investigates and provides guidance on inventory inquiries / issues from Stores, Distribution Center and Head Office Departments
- Enters & processes transfers and writes adjustments from warehouse to store, store to store and store to warehouse for management approval as necessary to adjust inventory
- Manages Critical Shrink Count bi- weekly for stores
- Writes up incident reports and forwards to Loss Prevention to report any theft / incident issues, lost packages, problem test counts, etc.
- Analyses Exception Reports by receiving errors / variances, invalid UPC transactions, polling issues, etc.
- Provides Support for External Audits and SOX compliance
- Weekly Reporting includes : Not Processed Receipts, Wholesale Consignment and Weekly Adjustment Summary Report
- Month-end Reporting : Reconciling and Posting of Unit & Cost Adjustments, aged inventory, RTVs, DC Location Reporting.
- Any other special projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
EDUCATION
College Degree in Accounting or any relevant DegreeEXPERIENCE
2-3 years of cost accounting & inventory control experience, with retail experience preferredSKILLS
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office, more specifically with ExcelStrong organizational skills manage priorities effectively, satisfy deadlines and manage time efficiently during peak periods.Good understanding of the day-to-day inventory related operations and how they flow through the system in order to respond to inquiries or solve discrepanciesExcellent communication skills in order to support daily interactions with Stores, DC, Head Office and external partnersStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to handle a variety of projects / tasks concurrentlyStrong follow-up skillsDetail orientedStrong Interpersonal skillsBilingual (French & English).Please note that due to the nature of the responsibilities of the position, a proficient level of English is required, in particular to communicate on a regular basis with employees and managers outside of Quebec.Are you our hidden gem?
