The Corporate Controller leads the finance and accounting functions and the accounting and finance staff. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer; the successful candidate is expected to play a leadership role within the company on all financial matters.
Shift Auto Group, Eastern Canada’s fastest growing automotive retailer. Founded in 2015, Shift Auto is headquartered in Fredericton, New Brunswick and currently consists of four New Car Dealerships (Volvo Cars New Brunswick, Fredericton Mitsubishi, Grand Falls Hyundai and Miramichi Kia) as well as seven used vehicle dealerships (Five ReCar locations and two St. Croix Auto locations) and nine Wonder Auto & Tire locations across New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
What you’ll be doing
- Provide leadership and guidance to the accounting team including hiring, coaching, accountability, performance reviews and disciplinary action.
- Management of the overall accounting functions of the accounting team, ensuring we are working at the highest possible level of efficiency and accuracy.
- Preparing and facilitating weekly accounting team meetings to ensure that the communication within the accounting team is one of our core strengths.
- Prepare, review and present timely financial accounting reports and key performance indicators (KPIs) to key senior leadership team members including invested partners, department managers and other stakeholders.
- Work with the CFO and senior leadership to ensure our monthly and annual budgeting process is in place and is active across all business units and find areas of opportunity for cost savings, efficiencies and revenue opportunities.
- Manage the annual financial statement preparation process and all tax filing requirements for all corporate entities within the group.
Qualifications :
A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation would be ideal, but is not a requirement.Demonstrated experience in an advanced accounting role.Experience and a track record of success in leading and organizing a team.A demonstrated ability to work autonomously, think outside-the-box, and to take initiative.Significant attention to detail, accuracy and a talent for summarizing details into a format for high level reporting.Savvy technology skills including Microsoft Office skills (superior Excel knowledge), Google Suite, and a willingness to learn an automotive dealer management and accounting cloud-based system. Experience working with business intelligence tools such as Tableau or PowerBI would be considered an asset.A sense of urgency and ability to set and meet deadlines, Adaptable to change, eagerness to learn, and passion for the business.At Venor, we embrace a culture of belonging in the workplace.
