Senior Sustainability Data Analyst

What will you do?

Below are some of the primary responsibilities you will be taking on in this role :

  • Work collaboratively with departments across the global organization to gather sustainability data from various sources.
  • Manage and maintain large amounts of sustainability data, including utility data, across Dream Industrial’s systems and databases.

Ensure the data is clean, consistent and of high quality.

  • Consolidate data and develop reports to address internal and external sustainability reporting requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the data collection and data management processes, including the development of dashboards using Power BI.
  • Calculate and analyze a wide range of building sustainability performance metrics (including energy, water, GHG, waste and recycling, etc.).
  • Act as project liaison with third-party data managers to optimize data collection, controls and integrity of reports.
  • Support annual data assurance process with external auditors.
  • Submit data to relevant authorities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and directives in Canada and Europe.
  • Research, analyze and provide business modelling for sustainability initiatives including low carbon transition, innovative energy solutions, renewable energy etc.
  • Engage internal partners to help drive sustainability objectives and priorities.
  • Provide internal advisory services to businesses and functions on how emerging sustainability issues and opportunities impact the bottom line.
  • Support submissions to third party ESG rating agencies.
  • Contribute to the annual Sustainability Report and other publicly issued reports that highlight our progress and performance against approved sustainability goals and commitments.
  • Lead and conduct periodic environmental scans of emerging climate change, environmental, social and governance issues and attitudinal changes to guide the ongoing evolution of our sustainability strategy.
  • Contribute to and lead GRESB submissions and analysis as well as work to improve scores.
  • Contribute to building certification initiatives (LEED, BREEAM etc)
  • Support Dream’s Net Zero by 2035 Action Plan and lead net zero reporting, including CRREM analysis.

What experience do you have?

These are some of the things we would like you to bring to the table :

  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in Environmental, Sustainability, ESG or Impact sectors.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data management including Power BI.
  • Some programming, SQL or database management experience is an asset.
  • Commercial real estate / property management industry experience is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of emissions reporting (GHG / greenhouse gas protocol), GRI (Global Reporting Initiative), TCFD (Task Force on Climate related financial) and SASB (Sustainability Accounting Standards Board) is an asset.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups across multiple locations.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Strong quantitative / analytical skills, including the ability to perform data analysis and identify the gaps and trends in data.
  • Global experience is an asset. (While Dream’s headquarters are in Toronto, this position works closely with teams across Canada and Europe)
  • Experience in financial analysis is an asset.
  • Strategic thinker and agile problem solver, while simultaneously driving a rigorous, data-driven approach to understanding the environment and driving for results.
