ATP is seeking a full-time Director of Research and Development, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. TITLE & DEPARTMENT Director of Research and Development LOCATION & COMMITMENTS Permanent full-time Location – Oak Bluff, Manitoba Travel required, including out of province overnight evenings / weekends Direct reports – 3 and up to 6 during peak periods Reports to Chief Executive Officer SUMMARY As the Director of Research and Development, this is a highly rewarding role. You will lead the overall direction of new products for the organization. This includes overseeing the day-to-day management of both growth room and field plots. In addition, you will be the liaison between the R&D team with both the Sales and Marketing departments on projects, trials and development experiments. JOB DUTIES The job duties of this role include a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to : Provide leadership and direction in both the research and development of new and innovative fertilizers, biostimulants and analytical technologies to better serve the agronomic needs of the market. Design, implementation and management of all research trials. Manage product screening and innovation under growth chamber conditions. Develop and maintain effective relationships and networks with key stakeholders, including government agencies, service providers, and other research centers. Oversee the lab and have the formulation chemist reporting to this position. Develop budgets for research projects and all necessary capital requirements, including delivery on time and within budget. Develop technical data packages and POS’s for internal and external use. Create and deliver technical presentations both internally and at customer meetings, conferences and attending industry events to broaden awareness and understanding our product offering. Collaborate with the Director of Market Development and Agronomy, and the management team Be apart of the ATP regulatory team to support registrations initiatives for both Canada and the US. Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards. Representing ATP Nutrition best interests with industry and professional groups. QUALIFICATIONS A successful candidate will require several competencies, knowledge, skills, and qualifications, as per the following, but not limited to : Minimum of a M.Sc. in Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Nutrition or a related field. Minimum 5 years of relevant, industry experience. Ability to use statistical software to analyze data and create visualizations. Knowledge of agricultural products and their impact on crop production. Experience with field research, operation of small plot research, and field trial techniques. Excellent teamwork, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage a team of both full time and seasonal staff. Natural ability to write and present technical information. Strong leadership skills. Experience in public speaking. Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team. Strong sense of urgency with the ability to multitask. A proven track record of successful R&D projects. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
