The Site Medical Lead is a co-leadership position with operational and decision-making responsibilities. With the UPCC Manager co-lead, the Medical Lead works with the primary care providers (PCPs) and other staff to support the delivery of quality team-based primary care in a team-based and extended-hours model.
This position reports to the Medical Director of South Island UPCCs.
Main responsibilities :
1. Leadership : Maintains a consistent site presence and liaises regularly with the UPCC Manager. Co-leads regular staff meetings to build and maintain an effective team.
Participates in cross-site UPCC leadership and MD meetings. Manages any concerns relating to the professional conduct and performance of medical staff, with support of senior leaders and the Enhanced Medical Staff Support team as required.
Supports opportunities for medical learners where possible.
2. Operations & Quality : Engages PCPs and staff in continuous quality improvement of service delivery. Provides oversight of site-level administrative procedures to ensure standards of appropriate continuity and results management.
This includes compliance with the professional standards of the BC College of Physicians and Surgeons, as they pertain to clinic operations.
Responsible for site-level recruitment including onboarding. Provides oversight for PCP scheduling and invoicing.
3. Change Management : Acts as change management champion to engage and support PCPs and staff through change including quality improvement.
4. Informatics : Leads team activities that advance technology and data use to improve service delivery using the EMR.
5. Planning : Assesses, monitors, and anticipates team resource needs and works with medical leaders and administrative leaders to prioritize these needs within available resources.
