Job description

HALIFAX JOBS

  • Hours : part-time to full-time, the Warehouse Market is currently open Wednesday – Saturday
  • Start Date : late August / early September 2024

Responsibilities :

  • Market set up
  • Market take down
  • Stocking Market products
  • Customer check out
  • Farm - Market communication
  • Inventory
  • Making surplus boxes
  • Putting together phone and restaurant orders
  • Customer service
  • Clean up and other organization duties
  • Ordering and receiving products from farmers and other Market vendors

    Many of the customers at the Warehouse Market are long time supporters of both the Market and Abundant Acres Farm. They value direct relationships with the folks producing their food. We encourage building relationships with our regular customers.

    Physical Fitness

    The Warehouse Market and Abundant Acres are fast-paced environments where you will be working under pressure doing repetitive tasks that can be physically demanding, and require attention to detail and hand-eye coordination.

    Desired Qualities and Qualifications

    We are looking for energetic, strong, active people who are excited about food and cooking. Experience in produce retailing is an asset. Strong communication skills and knowledge of the local food system and season cooking or willingness to learn are an asset.

    A driver's license and comfort with driving delivery vehicles is also an asset.

    Based on skills and interest, this position also includes the opportunity to work shifts on our farm, Abundant Acres, in Hants County, one hour’s drive from the Market.

    Starting hourly pay of $16.50 to $18 based on experience and ability of employee.

    The Warehouse Market is a collaboration between two farms : Abundant Acres for produce, and Holdanca Farms for meat and egg products. We also source products from other farmers such as Ted Hutten, Fill Yer Boots Farm, Elmridge Farm and many others. The market is managed collaboratively by 3 employees. The market is also in a building that houses 4 different businesses so it’s important we work cooperatively to share the building space.
