Laundry Attendant - Nova Inn Yellowknife

We are currently looking for a Laundry Attendant at Nova Inn Yellowknife. You will be responsible for cleaning linens in a timely, organized manner to ensure that hotel's laundry and linen needs are met. They move quickly and organize their tasks according to business volumes to ensure that the Room Attendants have the supplies needed in a timely manner. They are passionate about working as a team with associates from all departments. This position is full-time including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for ensuring the property linens & other products are cleaned and maintained in a timely and thorough manner to maximize the highest degree of guest satisfaction. They move quickly and organize their tasks according to business volumes to ensure that the housekeeping team always has what they need. They are passionate about serving others and working as a team with associates from all departments. Ensuring all linens & terry products are cleaned and maintained to the standards set by the hotel using the correct cleaning techniques and cleaning agents.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties :

The specific responsibilities of the Laundry Attendant position will vary depending on the needs of the properties. Specific responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following areas.

• Follows all established and future laundry Standard Operating Procedures.
• Operates washers and dryers according to recommended capacity and manufacturer’s guidelines.
• Cleans and maintains washers and dryers, including cleaning the dryer vents daily.
• Folds clean linens and stores as appropriate.
• Monitors and controls supply and minimizes waste within laundry area.
• Ensures clean linen for Housekeeping Rooms.
• Sorts and logs the discarded linen for inventory. Reports damages or loss of linen to supervisor.
• Makes rags for Room Attendants.
• Spot cleans linen by using the appropriate stain removal chemical.
• Assists the Room Attendants with stocking linen rooms as required.
• Mends and repairs linens as required.
• Completes special sewing projects as required.
• Reports all concerns related to Maintenance, Health and Safety, Security or Suspicious circumstances (including smells / sights and sound) immediately to the appropriate leader.
• Assists in the removal of trash, recyclables and dirty linens as directed.
• Adheres to all Nova Hotel standards, including Hygiene and Grooming, Health and Safety, Fire Safety, and Guest Interactions.

Education :

High School diploma preferrable. Previous training in hospitality industry is considered an asset.

Experience :

0-1 years’ experience in hospitality industry as a Laundry Attendant is considered an asset. Able to work well independently with little supervision. Physically fit and able to push, pull, lift to 50+ lbs and to bend and kneel with comfort.
