Wood Minerals & Metals (M&M) business is seeking a Business Development Manager. As a core member of an international team of business development professionals, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing Mining & Minerals (M&M) business development efforts to build relationships with Wood’s M&M client base and win new consulting, study and project EP / EPCM work.
This role will be based in Toronto and may require domestic and international to support customer, opportunity and organizational requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in a relevant engineering, finance or business discipline, from a relevant and recognized Institute of Technology.
- Must have 7 -10 years of relevant BD experience with a recognized EP / EPCM organization; will consider combination of BD / project execution experience with at least 4 years BD experience in the mining and minerals industry.
- Demonstrated network of enduring business relationships with customers, potential customers and other industry professionals.
- Broad knowledge of mining & minerals industry technologies, work processes, environments and local customs, practices and norms from the EPC(M) services perspective;
experience on the customer side of the table would be an asset.
- Sound knowledge of commercial, economic and business issues relating to the mining industry in general and in local target markets.
- Excellent communication, writing, presentation, people and negotiating skills.
- A demonstrated capacity to build strong relationships with clients and team members.
- Proven planning, organization and data interpretation skills driving a proven track record in meeting deadlines.
- Ability to identify customer needs and wants over and above written RFP / EOI specific requests in order to be able to develop insightful value propositions and identify opportunities for both the customer and Wood.
- Membership and participation in recognized Mining & Minerals and technical specialty professional organizations as applicable.
- Full proficiency in MS Office and familiarity / willingness to work within Wood’s CRM tools.
- Strong proficiency in English; working knowledge of other languages considered an asset.
- Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required.
