We are seeking creative, dynamic, committed educational leaders to join the following initiative : Communicative Disorder Assistant 100% Regular (10 month work year) $44,749 to $57,717 Learning Support Services, 133 Greenbank Road, Nepean DUTIES : The Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) reports directly to the Supervisor of Speech-Language Pathology, and works under the direction and clinical supervision of the Board’s speech-language pathologists (SLPs) to collaborate with educators in the delivery of programs and interventions for students with communication and learning needs.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES Excellent interpersonal skills for working with a team of professionals and educators. Must have the ability to take direction from and work collaboratively with speech-language pathologists as clinical supervisors.

Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to collect data and maintain student progress accurately and in detail.

Strong time management, organization and multi-tasking skills to manage large caseload, prioritize competing demands, balance urgent needs and sustained needs, and ensure timely and consistent services.

Ability to learn necessary technology and computer literacy. Use of audio-visual equipment, printers, Internet, computers, computer software programs, communication equipment, photocopier, screening and therapy tools, and adapting and applying software.

Ability to adapt to change and maintain resilience, optimism and flexibility. Valid Ontario Class G license and use of personal vehicle for travel to school sites.

Strong knowledge about AAC and experience with student / educator training would be an asset EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE This position requires two year post-secondary education and a one year Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) graduate certificate from a recognized community college, and 2 years of experience working with school-aged children as a CDA is required.

Must have a passion for working with students with complex needs (e.g., Autism, Developmental Disabilities) who may present with significantly challenging behaviour.
