Speech and Language Pathologist – Competitive Salary – Thorold, Ontario

The Role

Do you have a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university program? Are you registered with the College of Speech Language Pathologists & Audiologists of Ontario (CASLPO)? If so, we are looking for you.

Bethesda Community Services is seeking Speech and Language Pathologists. This position will be based out of Thorold and travel may be required throughout the Hamilton, Niagara, Brant, Haldimand, and Norfolk regions.

This is role is available for full-time, full-time contract and part time employment.

Key Responsibilities :

The key responsibilities of a Speech and Language Pathologist include, but are not limited to :

  • Provide in-person and virtual assessment, consultation, and intervention services to adults with intellectual / developmental disabilities and a broad range of communication needs
  • Develop and deliver trainings and workshops to provide communication strategies to caregivers and supports within the community
  • Implement group and individual treatment programs targeting speech, language, augmentative-alternative communication (AAC), fluency, and social communication goals
  • Conduct swallowing assessments, as needed
  • Conduct hearing screenings, as needed
  • Work collaboratively with other clinical team members to develop and deliver interdisciplinary service plans and programs
  • Initiate / recommend referrals to internal and external services, as appropriate
  • Attend team meetings as scheduled

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Speech and Language Pathologist are :

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university program
  • 2 – 3 years’ experience as a Speech and Language Pathologist is an asset
  • Registration with the College of Speech Language Pathologists & Audiologists of Ontario (CASLPO)
  • Knowledge and skills pertaining to basic computer skills and Microsoft Office
  • Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities and / or ASD
  • Sign language an asset
  • NVCI and First Aid Certifications are an asset
  • Valid G license and access to a reliable vehicle is required
  • French / English bilingualism is an asset
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
