Position Summary
Reporting to the Vice President, Clinical, Diagnostics and Laboratory Medicine, the Manager, Strategic Projects role is a leadership position within our Diagnostic Programs : the Joint Department of Medical Imaging (in partnership with Sinai Health and Women's College Hospital) and the Lab Medicine Program which extends its support to multiple partner hospitals, further enhancing the reach and impact of our diagnostic services.
This multifaceted position aligns with our corporate mission, vision, values, and priorities and will require you to be a visionary leader capable of fostering innovation, partnership development, and continuous improvement in imaging and diagnostic services.
Working closely with VP to prioritize portfolio strategies, researching opportunities, gaps, and risks, determining best way to track performance, keep teams on track towards their goals, planning and implementing aspects of portfolio committees.
This role serves as a member of the portfolio’s leadership team.
Duties
- Planning and development of Medical Imaging and Laboratory Medicine Program strategic projects, including participation in defining and developing methodology to ensure successful program planning, operational planning, strategic planning and other program projects
- Develops, implements, manages and reviews short and long-term strategic plans which are in alignment with TeamJDMI, TeamLMP, and UHN’s goals and strategies
- Monitors progress towards the achievement of goals at regular intervals and takes action, as required
- Prepares appropriate business plan documents in support of short- and long-term planning initiatives.
- Indirectly manages project team(s) to ensure achievement of objectives and deliverables on time, in scope, on budget
- Develops and implements day-to-day operating policies, systems and procedures to contribute to organizational effectiveness.
- Effectively manages resources (financial, HR, infrastructure, space, etc) to achieve objectives within budget
- Represents the unit / department internally on UHN committees, as required, and UHN in the external community at conferences, workshops, etc.
- Regularly reports progress to key stakeholders and JDMI and LMP senior management through status reports and presentations
- Acts as a resource for project teams requiring knowledge and expertise in strategic planning, business development, quality and process improvement, change management, and project management
- Coaches staff to ensure that continuous quality improvement initiatives are incorporated into day-to-day activities
- Provides leadership and acts as a resource and coach for stakeholders in the portfolio requiring knowledge and guidance
- Promotes a teamwork environment where staff from diverse multilingual and multicultural backgrounds can interact productively and efficiently
Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Business or Health Administration (MBA), or recognized equivalent
- At minimum 8 years progressive experience in a strategic planning focused role
- Expertise in strategic planning, project management, change management, business development, and quality and process improvement, at the executive-level
- Excellent analytical, financial and reporting skills
- Detail oriented with strong skills in data manipulation, analysis and interpretation, with an ability to identify trends and recommend actions
- Experience in hospital data and reporting metrics
- Experience in both project and change management leading complex projects / priorities and to deliver results that meet identified expectations and timelines
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with all levels, including senior level management and external stakeholders
- Excellent communication, negotiation and decision-making skills
- Ability to use a collaborative, team approach to problem solving
- Understands and champions Lean / Six Sigma methodologies
- Member of the Canadian College of Health Service Executives, an asset
- PMP certification, an asset
