Job description

Join Our Team as a Smetco Operator! Are you experienced in a fast-paced warehouse environment and looking for a new challenge? We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Machine Operator to join our team. If you have a keen eye for detail and the ability to meet productivity targets, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities :

  • Operate and maintain the Smetco Pallet Sortation machine.
  • Inspect and sort pallets into grades for forklift pick-up.
  • Direct pallets to proper destination stackers from automated indexers.
  • Operate control stations with numerous buttons and switches.
  • Follow safety procedures and use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Meet daily and weekly productivity and quality targets.
  • Maintain a clean and organized sorting area.
  • Accurately record pallet sorting, including counts and grades.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or leadership team.

Qualifications :

  • Experience with operating machinery and / or Smetco Machine preferred.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures and the use of PPE in an industrial setting.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to comprehend pallet quality criteria to ensure quality targets are consistently achieved.

    • Working Conditions & Physical Requirements :

  • Work environment susceptible to seasonal changes in temperature.
  • Exposure to dust and loud noise (hearing protection provided).
  • Exposure to heavy equipment, moving conveyors, and heavy forklift traffic.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move pallets and materials weighing up to 85 lbs. repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on hard surfaces.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling required.
  • Strong visual acuity to inspect pallets for defects and perform detailed repair work.
  • Occasionally required to maneuver on uneven surfaces or platforms.
