Asset Management is responsible for operating and maintaining safe, quality and sustainable working environments and to ensure the efficient operation and good stewardship of government buildings and assets.
Some of the key components integral to Asset Managements’ corporate service include : providing life cycle accommodation strategies for the owned building portfolio;
providing leadership and project management for accommodation projects and major capital projects through internal and external professional and technical services that include planning, design, leasing and construction management.

Conditions of Employment :

Qualifications : Essential :
Post secondary education in construction project management or a related field (including Interior Design, Architecture, Facility Management and Engineering).
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience coordinating and planning all phases of construction and facility-related projects, including defining project scope, budgeting, scheduling, tendering, implementation and providing ongoing technical advice.
- Knowledge of current Building Codes, legislation, and industry best practice related to accessibility and sustainable construction practices.
- Experience overseeing and managing project financials, including controlling and administrating contracts.
- Experience reviewing specifications, drawings, reports, studies and providing analysis and recommendations to senior officials and stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and management skills to empower staff to achieve results, leverage opportunities for innovation, find creative solutions to issues, and successfully manage change.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong political acumen with the ability to manage confidential and politically sensitive material and situations in an appropriate manner.
- Excellent written communication skills including the ability to prepare technical and non-technical correspondence and reports.
- Strong verbal communication skills to present complex information to a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet competing deadlines.
To Apply for the Position :
Duties : Reporting to the Director of Real Estate and Contract Services, the Project Manager is responsible for the concurrent management of multiple capital and client funded projects within the Government of Manitoba's portfolio of owned and leased facilities.
This portfolio consists of a wide variety of facilities including large office complexes, court houses, correctional facilities, health institutions, warehouses, central power plants, post-secondary institutions and the Manitoba Legislative Building.
A large portion of this portfolio has been identified as having heritage significance.
The Project Manager provides leadership and direction to project teams comprised of internal and external professionals, client representatives, senior officials and supporting agencies through all phases of assigned projects including planning, design, construction, occupancy and closing.
