Position Information Position Title Manager, Business Development - Applied Research Posting Type Temporary End Date (if applicable) 02 / 18 / 2028 Classification Title Administration 10 Pay Band 10 Min Salary $86,327 Max Salary $107,909 Position Summary Reporting to the Director, Applied Research and Innovation, the incumbent will provide support to the Director and Project Manager of Applied Research and Innovation by asking as a broker for industry partners and the College. As part of these activities, the incumbent’s main purpose is to acquire industry clients, form partnerships, and develop applied research projects with partners from the private sector and the community. In addition, the incumbent also provides project management support, prepares research agreements and funding applications and business development insights. Location / Campus Thunder Bay Campus Education Minimum level of formal education required for the position 4 year degree or equivalent Specific course(s), certification, qualification, formal training or accreditation required for the position Additional Requirements Field(s) of Study

  • Undergraduate degree with courses in strategic planning, performance measurement, qualitative / quantitative research methodology, or project management.

Experience Typical number of years of experience, in addition to the necessary education level, required to perform the responsibilities of the position Minimum of five (5) years Type of Experience

  • Knowledge of community college educational system in Ontario.
  • Knowledge of applied research at colleges in Canada.
  • Proven experience in project management, including financial and budget management.
  • Experience with engaging industry partners to develop research collaborations.
  • Experience with building and maintaining client relationships to support research or innovation initiatives.
  • Experience applying for research funding and interaction with funding from one or more of the major Canadian granting agencies.
  • Experience managing teams.
  • Experience supporting research projects.
  • Experience with policy analysis.
  • Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience designing performance measurement strategies.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, human relations, problem-solving, communication skills, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Effective management skills, including excellent human relations skills, good computer skills, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Skills in understanding of research protocols and processes.
  • Intermediate level computer skills such as word processing, spread sheeting, database management.
