The Manager, Policy reports directly to the Director, Policy, Legislation and Communication. The unit provides services to the Department of Finance and the Department of Executive and Indigenous Affairs. The position provides support in the areas of policy, legislation, program analysis review, strategic planning, legislative planning and support for ministerial activities.
Seeking a candidate with a comprehensive understanding of strategic planning, policy, and program development within a government context. The ideal candidate should possess knowledge of policy frameworks at both local and broader jurisdictional levels, familiarity with northern institutions and communities, and the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders. Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills are essential, along with proficiency in computer software. The candidate should be adept at developing, analyzing, and articulating policy options, demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills. Additionally, the ability to work independently, lead projects, and manage multiple assignments under tight deadlines is crucial.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by :
A Bachelor’s degree in business / public administration, political science or a related field with (5) five years of experience in policy development and evaluation, and a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience.
