Weld Engineer – Pressure Vessels (Oil & Gas)

Location : Guelph, ON

Salary Range : $90,000-$110,000

We’re excited to share an opportunity for an existing vacancy as a Weld Engineer specializing in Pressure Vessels for the Oil & Gas industry . This is an exciting role that allows you to directly impact the design, manufacturing, and testing of high-pressure equipment used in critical applications. You will play a key role in ensuring that all welding practices are compliant with the latest codes and standards, particularly Section 8, while contributing to the success of our projects.

Daily responsibilities may include but are not limited to :

  • Develop, implement, and optimize welding procedures for pressure vessel fabrication in the oil and gas sector.
  • Ensure compliance with ASME Section 8 codes and other relevant standards throughout the welding process.
  • Conduct welder qualifications, welding procedure qualifications (WPQs), and support NDE (Non-Destructive Examination) processes.
  • Perform welding inspections and assessments of materials, design, and welding joints to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Collaborate with project teams, engineers, and fabricators to troubleshoot issues related to welding techniques, materials, and equipment.
  • Provide technical guidance on welding-related matters and assist with the selection of appropriate materials and welding consumables.
  • Evaluate welding procedures for efficiency and cost-effectiveness without compromising safety or quality.
  • Review and update welding documentation, including procedures, qualifications, and compliance reports.
  • Support the preparation of technical specifications and client deliverables related to welding and pressure vessel fabrication.

Mandatory Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in welding engineering, specifically in pressure vessel fabrication for the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong proficiency in ASME Section 8 codes (Pressure Vessel design, fabrication, and inspection).
  • Experience with welding processes such as SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW.
  • Familiarity with NDT techniques and the ability to interpret welding inspection reports.
  • Hands-on experience with welding equipment and process optimization in a fabrication environment.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment while managing individual tasks and priorities.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
