Cedar Heights specializes in working with complex care clients diagnosed with neuro diversions such as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Direct Support Professionals provide individuals with high levels of support and supervision in all areas of daily living including; education, behaviour support, community involvement, and recreation.
The position requires that the candidate be available to work various shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
On-site / Off-site training is provided. Also made available to all employees are opportunities to participate in various workshops to further develop skills and knowledge on how to better support our clients.

Qualifications or Skills Required :
- Related experience working with special needs individuals; previous supervisory experience. Time spent working in a group home setting with people with neurodiversity would be considered an asset.
Education :

Program Supervisor
JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary :
The Program Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations when the Program Manager is not available. Responsibilities include administrative, programming, supervision, financial, and program development, implementation, coordination, and modification.
Requirements and Qualifications :
The Program Supervisor at Cedar Heights Residential Living is required to hold a Post Secondary Degree or Diploma in the social service and / or related field. Related experience working with special needs individuals is also required. Upon hiring, Cedar Heights requires access to the documentation that is outlined in the Direct Support Professional job description. The Program Supervisors must have open availability.
Health and Safety Responsibilities :
The Program Supervisor must follow all the health and safety responsibilities set out in the Direct Support Professional job description. In addition to those responsibilities the Program Supervisor has the following responsibilities :
Ensure that the cleaning supplies used match the SDS binderEnsure that the MCCSS and QAM standards are being followedEnsure that the Fire Safety Plan is updated when necessaryContact the necessary contractors for any maintenance needsEnsure that the annual inspections are completedFollow through with any concerns that were brought forward by the JHSC (where applicable)Ensure that all staff are trained in medication and pharmacologyEnsure that the medication binder and the medical profiles on the case management system are updated with all changesEnsure that the medication intake and adherence checks to monitor expired medication are completedCommunication Responsibilities :
The Program Supervisor must follow all the communication responsibilities set out in the Direct Support Professional job description. The Program Supervisor also has the following additional responsibilities :
Record all important information in the communication book and ensure that staff are reading and signing off on every shift.Provide team support by working as an effective supervisory member of the On-Call SystemReinforce and abide by all Emergency Procedures (i.e., Fire, Police, AWOL, Suicide, etc.)Complete the full staff orientation following the orientation manual and checklistEnsure that all staff understand the organization’s Policies & ProceduresAssist in staff discipline - following the disciplinary processStudent Placement supervisor - Oversee placement students, and conduct weekly meetings with students to go over their skills assessments.Complete Student Evaluations and attend meetings with College facultyReport staff discrepancies to the Program Manager and collaborate on solutionsFacilitate meetings when the Program Manager is unable to attendCo-chair staff meetings and in-service training sessionsAdministrative Responsibilities :

Assume the Program Manager’s responsibilities if the Program Manager is awayWork as a team leader for all employees to ensure program stabilityAttend Psychiatrist meetings in the Program Manager’s absenceCheck 1 : 1 signing sheets and ensure they are signedComplete the invoices and expense spreadsheets when the Program Manager is awayCheck staff timesheets against the schedule and staff on shift list to ensure accuracyComplete the biweekly payroll summary and submit it to the Program ManagerCollaborate with the Program Manager on the scheduleSchedule interviews and co-interview potential staffEnsure staff hiring packages are complete and up to dateCheck references of potential new staff upon hiringFile and quality control of residents’ binders – present and dischargedAny additional administrative duties assigned by the Program ManagerEnsure all MCCSS and QAM documents are reviewed by staff and residents annuallyEnsure that all QSF requirements are being metAssist residents with ODSP and Passport applicationsReinforce and abide by the Policy and Procedures ManualAdminister, and ensure the accurate recording and administration of medication (prescription and non-prescription)Audit of assigned staff dutiesReview residents’ POC’s, ISP’s, BSP’s, and Safety plans prior to submissionReview the shift logs to ensure completionBe familiar with resident profiles, goals, needs, and behaviors, and the corresponding intervention strategiesAdvocate and support residents with regard to their knowledge and expression of rights and responsibilities, and cultural and religious backgrounds.Accompany residents to medical appointments, court, assessments, and other appointments.Development / Coordination :

Direct Support Professional
JOB DESCRIPTION : Position Summary :
The Direct Support Professional provides on-site support, structure, and supervision using a strength-based approach for residents with brain-based disabilities such as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). At times staff will need to use physical intervention techniques such as holding skills (physical restraints) for the safety of those involved. Staff make accommodations within the environment and programming focusing on the residents’ functional age rather than their biological age to provide the best opportunity for personal growth. Staff provides an inclusive approach and assistance in treatment including participation in life skills training (hygiene, toileting, chores), arts & crafts, recreation, and leisure, as well as behavior intervention programs aimed at increasing skill acquisition. Community integration is also a focus of the program.
Requirements and Qualifications :
Direct Support Professionals at Cedar Heights are required to be available to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, overnights, and weekends as well as holidays.
Direct Support Professionals at Cedar Heights are required to possess a post-secondary degree or diploma (completed or in progress with at least 50% completed) in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Disability Support Worker, or other related fields. Related experience with individuals with special needs, children, or practicum placement is encouraged, but not required if related education is complete.
