Position Purpose :

The Mechanical Engineering Team Lead will collaborate with fellow Team Leads to coordinate the service line team, ensuring technical capability and production requirements are met. This role will support the team's growth and the seamless execution of projects.

Roles & Responsibilities :

  • Analyze data to support key business decisions, including budget forecasting, variance analysis, client profitability, and risk management, reporting findings to the Engineering Manager or Director as appropriate.
  • Act as the Relationship Manager or Technical Specialist, ensuring timely delivery of projects to clients.
  • Plan and review projects involving significant manpower and financial investment.
  • Develop operational standards and meet objectives efficiently, even under challenging conditions.
  • Address cost control, non-recoverable expenditures, and resource utilization issues.
  • Foster effective communication within the team.
  • Maintain technical expertise, mentor and coach team members, share knowledge across offices, and enhance the overall technical capability of the service line.
  • Identify projects for technical awards and ensure proper submissions.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineering Managers, Relationship Managers, and Directors to secure large, multi-company projects.
  • Uphold and promote the company’s culture and values.
  • Build and maintain a network of colleagues for solving complex engineering challenges.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements.
  • Stamp your own project designs and reports, as well as those of engineers in training you mentor.
  • Embody and promote the company’s purpose and core values.
  • Adhere to company policies, safety standards, and client safety practices.
  • Ability to apply for federal security clearance for institutional projects as required.
  • Obtain a Leadership in Safety Excellence certification as part of the role.

Qualifications & Experience :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Must have) P.Eng. designation with the appropriate provincial association.
  • A Master’s Degree in Engineering is an asset.
  • Skills & Capabilities :

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to listen, respect diverse opinions, and communicate clearly and succinctly.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines.
  • Ability to represent the company positively to teammates, clients, and the community.
  • Proficiency with WE systems and programs, including MS Office 365, SharePoint, Deltek Vision, AutoCAD, and Revit MEP.
  • Ability to apply market trends to create and implement effective marketing strategies.
  • Holds a senior role in a technical or business association.
  • Understanding of the viability of designs from other service lines.
  • Compensation & Benefits :

  • Salary : $101,000 to $156,000 annually (commensurate with experience).
  • 3+ weeks of vacation.
