Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Finance Manager plays a critical role in the preparation and delivery of GIP’s consolidated financial results. The Finance Manager will work closely with the Corporate Finance team on financial close functions monthly, quarterly, and annually, reconciling general ledger accounts. They will contribute to the overall business strategy of the company and actively participate in GIP’s financial and tactical activities.
Primary Scope of Role
- Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial statements, focusing on balance sheet integrity, including standardization and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
- Lead the month-end close process, including journal entries and reconciling general ledger accounts, bank reconciliation, prepaid expenses, capital assets continuity and depreciation, intercompany reconciliation, accrued liabilities, reconciliation of long-term debts, payroll reconciliation, and classification of expenses.
- Responsible for detailed review and approval of all journal entries, adjustments and schedules.
- Manage the Asset Management module, including review reconciliation and FA Continuity reporting.
- Manage lease software to oversee all leases, ensuring they are entered, reconciled, and documented.
- Oversee Corporate BU P&L and distribute the monthly reports.
- Manage accounting systems, processes and best practices, including maintaining COA, adding new Business Units, and creating new GL accounts.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets.
- Ensure compliance with accounting and financial policies (Fixed Assets, Intercompany Balancing, Payroll journals and reconciliation, Indirect tax reconciliation).
- Assist in developing accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Identify process improvement opportunities within the accounting function and implement best practices to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and productivity.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and emerging accounting standards.
- Provide adequate support to finance and accounting teams.
- Assist with external annual audit processes.
- Support ad hoc projects, initiatives, M&A activities and other special assignments in Corporate Finance.
Position Requirements
Post-secondary diploma or degree in accounting / finance.Professional accounting designation (CPA) would be an asset.A minimum of five to seven years of accounting / finance experience, including construction industry experience.Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, sumifs).Experience with JDE Enterprise One and Lease Accelerator is an asset.Knowledge of IFRS and ASPE.Excellent written and oral communication skills, confident in engaging with all levels of the company.Strong organizational and management skills.Effective interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work well in a team.Outcome-focused, critical thinker with the ability to analyze and visualize to ensure continuous improvement across our business.Versatile and resourceful problem solver.Proactive and self-motivated.Hands-on, team-oriented, roll-up your sleeves type manager.About Us
