Overview
Our client, a highly respected and growing personal injury firm headquartered Ottawa , is looking to expand their team. Due to increased demand and success, they are seeking a dedicated Personal Injury Clerk to join their dynamic team. Key Responsibilities :
- Engage with lawyers, team members, clients, and other professionals to discuss ongoing cases and projects.
- Draft, receive, and review correspondence with clients, counsel, experts, and various other professionals.
- Coordinate the collection, review, and organization of medical records and other necessary documents.
- Obtain, assess, and organize damage-related information as needed.
- Handle payment arrangements for invoices related to record requests.
- Organize and schedule depositions, mediations, and other essential events.
- Maintain and update case files, ensuring they are complete and in compliance with firm protocols and procedures.
- Communicate with medical professionals and other parties involved in the care of patients or relevant matters, when appropriate.
- Prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, affidavits, and trial records, ensuring they are filed in accordance with judicial guidelines.
- In certain cases, create and organize medical chronologies.
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including organizing materials and information.
- Log and track billable hours for specific cases.
Key Qualifications :
A law clerk, legal assistant, or paralegal diploma / degree is required.Prior experience in medical malpractice or personal injury law is an asset.A resourceful, solution-driven mindset.Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).Ability to juggle multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Comfortable working independently while fostering a positive team-oriented atmosphere.High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prepare thoroughly.Willingness to learn and grow with guidance from senior team members to meet client expectations.Strong computer skills and proficiency in relevant software applications.
