Full-time Two-Year Contract (with the possibility of an extension)

The Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC) is the national voice for women’s health in Canada with a mission to lead the advancement of women’s health through excellence and collaborative professional practice.

The SOGC has over 4,000 members, comprised of : obstetricians; gynaecologists; family physicians; nurses; midwives and allied health professionals working in the field of sexual and reproductive health.

Since 1944, the SOGC continues to be a leading national and international authority on sexual and reproductive health and on evidence-based training and education. The SOGC leads the development of 12–17 clinical practice guidelines per year and hosts three regional continuing medical education meetings, and an Annual Clinical and Scientific Conference. The SOGC also coordinates and hosts in-person and virtual academic programs for participants at all stages of their career : medical students, residents and practicing health professionals.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Director of Education and Accreditation, the Public Education Liaison will lead our public education activities. This role involves designing and implementing innovative, engaging, and impactful educational content and initiatives to inform and empower patients and the public on women's health topics.

The Public Education Liaison will develop content for public websites, podcasts, patient resources, and forums while fostering relationships with partners to amplify the reach and effectiveness of the SOGC’s public education initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Creation and Management

  • Develop engaging evidence-based content for the SOGC’s public-facing websites, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
  • Develop podcast content focused on women's health topics.
  • Design and create resources for patients and the public, including brochures, infographics, and videos, in collaboration with subject matter experts.

Event Organization and Coordination

  • Plan and execute virtual and in-person patient and public forums on women's health topics, ensuring engaging and interactive experiences for participants.
  • Coordinate logistics, speakers, and promotional efforts for events aimed at educating the public.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with health care professionals, advocacy groups, and other key stakeholders to align on public education goals and strategies.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships to enhance the reach of the SOGC’s educational initiatives.
  • Work cross functionally with the SOGC’s internal teams’ subject matter experts, including communications, to ensure content consistency and alignment with organizational priorities and clinical guidance.
  • Strategic Leadership

  • Implement the public education strategy, identifying key priorities and opportunities for engagement.
  • Stay informed on trends and emerging topics in women's health and adapt content and activities accordingly.
  • QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE and KEY SKILLS

  • A degree in communications, health promotion, public health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in public education, communications, or a related role, ideally within health care or non-profit sectors.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of women’s health issues and the ability to translate complex medical information into accessible and engaging content.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and digital communication skills.
  • Proficiency in multimedia production, including podcasts, videos, and social media content.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute events, both virtual and in-person.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience collaborating with external partners and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with public engagement strategies and tools.
  • Bilingual (English and French).
  • Passion for advancing women’s health education and advocacy.
  • Creative thinker with an eye for detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work weekends and overtime.
  • Some travel may be required.
