Job Description

What is the opportunity?

  • The Technical Product Owner, Self-Serve Data & Analytics is responsible for driving the full lifecycle of self-serve data capabilities : needs identification and visioning;
  • discovery, user journey mapping, and ideation; solution and feature design and prioritization; road-mapping, release planning, and communication;

delivery and implementation support and coordination.

The role is critical to the development and execution of our data consumption strategy pillar, providing hands-on leadership and engagement, and acting as a bridge between technical and non-technical / business teams.

They will foster mutual understanding and drive alignment around key business needs, ensure clarity on key success criteria required for business adoption, and drive successful value capture through expanded use of self-serve data tools and capabilities by business users.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in delivering on GAM’s commitment to improving decision making, driven by data, and powered by technology;

and will create new and innovative ways to deliver value through data at the point of impact across all of GAM’s businesses.

What will you do?

Leverage your deep experience in technical product management to establish a compelling product vision, in alignment with GAM’s broader business and data strategy, and translate that vision into a clear, thoughtful, and achievable product roadmap.

Influence key stakeholders and help build their understanding and confidence in the art of the possible.

  • Establish and maintain product management best practices, including problem discovery, persona and journey mapping, feature definition, value assessment and prioritization, release planning, backlog management, and stakeholder communication.
  • Build strong relationships with business stakeholders and user communities. Establish regular and ongoing discovery and feedback sessions to foster engagement, understand current needs and challenges, and refine solutions.
  • Translate business requirements into product features and technical specifications. Partner closely with engineering teams and delivery squads to implement high-value solutions : act as the voice of the client’ guiding day-to-day design and implementation decisions, managing technical and business risks and trade-offs, and resolving complex technical challenges while optimizing business value.
  • Deliver ongoing and measurable improvements to GAM’s self-serve data capabilities and consumption patterns. Establish key OKRs and metrics to understand current utilization patterns, guide ongoing feature development and prioritization, and evaluate ongoing success.
  • Communicate product strategy and roadmap, progress on development of new features development, and release plans. Ensure appropriate documentation and governance requirements are adhered to.

Support user adoption, training, and change management.

What do you need to succeed (Must Haves)?

A proven track-record as a Technical Product Manager with 3-5+ years of experience. Expert understanding of product management principles and best practices, and how to apply them in an Agile environment.

A passion for creating exceptional products that delight users and exceed expectations.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate highly technical concepts and solutions into concise written and verbal explanations that are easily understood by both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Very strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for driving continuous improvement.

Exceptional ability to quickly identify the key success criteria relevant to solving a particular business or technical problem.

  • A result-oriented mindset, with the discipline to build operationally robust products, the courage to drive innovation to support new business areas and processes, and the resilience and perseverance to fail forward’ towards success.
  • Demonstrated success in applying agile best-practices to frame problems and prioritize key outcomes; hypothesize, iterate, and continuously improve on solutions;

and continuously deliver incremental value to end-users and key stakeholders.

Solid technology skills and expertise, with a focus on current and emerging data and big-data technologies, data visualization tools, and UI / UX.

Ability to partner closely with highly technical platform, engineering, and analytics teams to design and implement innovative solutions to business problems.

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Web or application UI / UX design experience.
  • Asset management / financial services experience.
