Job description

TRITAN Group has partnered with a reputable ICI General Contractor to seek an experienced HSE Manager to join their Calgary team. Our client is among the leading GCs in Canada and Alberta, with projects spanning Western Canada. The HSE Manager reports directly to the principal, supervises all programs, offers appropriate recommendations, and effectively oversees the safety program. Also, you will be able to work with your counterpart in Edmonton and support the Lethbridge office. Roles and responsibilitiesSupport all active projects by maintaining a visible presence in the field by performing regular site visits.Assist in implementing the company’s health and safety program in the field.Organize and schedule required safety training and first-aid coverage. Updated training matrix as neededCoach and assist all field staff to understand and meet all safety expectations.Perform formal inspections for all active projectsIn conjunction with the Site Superintendent, develop site Emergency Response Plan for all active sites before job start-up.Work with the Construction Manager and Site Superintendent to facilitate OH&S contact and reports.Monitor and audit sub-contractor health and safety compliance as neededPerform Hazard Assessments for new projects Regularly review and keep current with all applicable legislation and standards to ensure compliance.Audit the company’s health and safety program regularly for compliance and update it to align with the project's scope and conditions.As needed, provide direction, support, and resources to all Project Managers, the Construction Manager, and office personnel.Unsure that WCB reporting procedures are followed Monitor return-to-work progress for injured workersDevelop and improve on safe job procedures, safe work practices, and company health and safety policiesSchedule, prepare and participate in annual external audits. Maintain company COR statusTrack and maintain inspection records for all fire extinguishers and Fall Protection equipment, including harnesses, lanyards, ropes, etc. Maintain records of inspection findings and incident statistics to produce reports for suggested improvements and lessons learned.Perform Incident Investigation reports to identify root causes and corrective actions.QualificationsYou must have at least 5 - 7 years of experience in a safety manager role (Commercial Construction experience preferred).National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) Certification or higher requiredThis position may require extended periods of computer work.This manager role would work alongside our Edmonton Safety Manager and report directly to the Principal. OHS Certificate and Post-secondary education in Occupation, Health and Safety is considered an asset.Travel to various sites and a valid driver's license are required.
