As an Administrative Secretary with Vancouver Coastal Health, you will :
- Provide administrative and secretarial support for Heiltsuk Hospital.
- Maintain appointment calendar for the Manager.
- Screen and prioritize incoming materials and requests, respond to enquiries, and compose appropriate correspondence.
- Attend meetings, prepare minutes and initiate follow-up as required.
- Type and transcribe technical and non-technical materials from handwritten drafts or dictation and using various word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and other office software.
- Make travel and accommodation arrangements.
- Assist meeting room and office equipment requirements.
- Arrange for the repair and service of office equipment, building deficiencies, and furniture.
- Maintain department stationery levels.
- Verify and complete purchase requisition orders, receive goods, and maintain petty cash in accordance with established procedures.

Bella Bella is a beautiful island community off the central coast of British Columbia, 690 km north of Vancouver. It is surrounded by a magical world of channels, inlets and old growth forest.
It is home to salmon, orcas, humpbacks, bald eagles and the other denizens of the Pacific Northwest. The climate is mild and the area is a paradise for kayaking, sport fishing, hiking and photography.
The Heiltsuk Hospital in Bella Bella has 7 acute beds, 7 long term care beds and a 4-bed emergency department open 24 / 7, along with Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging services.
It offers telehealth services as well as speciality clinics. Heiltsuk Hospital also has an Intensive Case Management team for mental health and substance use.
There is a medical clinic and a pharmacy located in the hospital. The healthcare team consists of Physicians, RNs, LPNs, PCAs, Laboratory and Radiology Technologists, Combined Lab / X-Ray Technologists, Pharmacist, Pharmacy Assistants, and Support Services Personnel.
Heiltsuk Hospital is located on the traditional territories of the Heiltsuk Nation. It is one of the only provincial hospitals located on a reserve in all of Canada.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
Grade 12, three (3) years’ recent, related experience including working in an office and / or administrative support capacity or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to keyboard at 45 .
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related office equipment (including MS Office products eg. excel, word, outlook).
