Accounting Clerk
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accounts for review
- Draft and finalize client invoices
- Attend to all incoming billing related inquiries including invoices, billing templates and billing issues
- Review and submit invoices to client systems using various ebilling platforms
- Track and monitor invoice status
- Investigate rejection notifications and work to resolve issues impacting successful submissions
- Data entry (posting cash receipts, disbursements, etc.)
- Analyze WIP, disbursements, trust balances and aged WIP
- Process expense reports, credit card payments and reimbursement to client accounts
- Reconcile firm credit card transactions
- Liaise with vendors and deal with payment inquiries
- Post and process accounts payable
- Maintain and process an accurate accounting of all trust funds held by the firm in accordance with the Law Society of Ontario’s regulations
- Maintain day-to-day relations with the bank and assist with resolving any banking related issues
- Process / prepare daily cheques for both trust and general
- Prepare various reports and statistical information requested by lawyers (ie. aged accounts receivable, time reports, work in progress, etc.)
- Attend to financial inquiries from clients, lawyers and staff
- Assist with year-end audit as required
- Create and update rates and matter information as required
- Provide assistance / coverage to members of the accounting team, as needed
Qualifications
3+ years’ accounting experience in a law firmExperience with trust accounting and knowledge of Law Society of Ontario rulesStrong computer skills (Excel, Outlook, PC Law)Must have working knowledge of the e-billing processExperience with e-billing softwareGood people skills and an ability to work effectively within a teamExcellent organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail
