Responsibilities :

Supports the financial administration of payroll by :

  • Acting as the first point of contact for payroll related enquiries
  • Applying the generally accepted accounting principles to financial tasks
  • Probing for information to establish needs
  • Collecting timesheet data submitted for processing
  • Verifying the accuracy of absence and / or attendance reports prior to processing payroll
  • Disseminating information
  • Preparing payroll records for processing
  • Preparing stipend and honoraria payments for processing
  • Troubleshooting and resolving payroll discrepancies
  • Reconciling payroll distribution
  • Generating standard financial reports

Ensures the accurate and timely processing of payroll and / or HRIS transactions by :

  • Collecting supporting documentation required for payroll and / or HRIS processing
  • Verifying the accuracy and completeness of documents
  • Checking that proper approvals are obtained prior to processing transactions
  • Verifying that provisions of applicable collective agreements and / or policies are applied appropriately
  • Liaising with internal contacts to resolve payroll and / or HRIS processing issues
  • Handling sensitive and / or confidential information
  • Keeping well-informed on changes to policies, procedures, collective agreements, and applicable legislated requirements
  • Maintaining a filing system
  • Maintain a database
  • Requirements :

  • Experience using FIS / HRIS for SAP is preferred
  • Two years experience working with a variety of different types of payroll, including payroll for casual staff
  • Experience working with casual timesheets, both T4 and T4A payments, new payroll set-ups, contract faculty set-ups and honorariums
  • Very strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
