PM-02 - Visitor Services Team Leader II - Campgrounds, Gates, and Day Use Facilities

Anticipatory (Spring and Summer 2025) term and seasonal appointments of various durations.

Duties

Plans, organizes, schedules, provides coaching / mentoring, and manages performance of up to 20 team members. Delivers visitor service operations to provide park visitors with opportunities to discover, appreciate, learn about and enjoy the place and its natural and / or cultural resources, and understand their significance to Canada.

Work environment

We are looking for candidates that can work in fast paced, varying and complex environments, problem solve under pressure, and lead a team to success! As a supervisor with Parks Canada you will make lasting relationships with co-workers, and foster memorable connections between visitors and our country’s natural and cultural heritage. Must be available to start work in Jasper in April 2025 and stay until late September / mid-October.

Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.

Intent of the process

This process will be used to fill vacancies for the 2025 summer season in the Gates, Campgrounds, and Day Use Areas and Facilities functions in Jasper National Park.

  • EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in developing programs and in providing services to the public;
  • Experience in providing mentorship, coaching, leadership, feedback, and performance evaluations to employees;
  • Experience in giving instructions and delivering training.
  • KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of Parks Canada’s mandate and corporate objectives, especially as they relate to visitor experience in national parks;
  • Knowledge of scheduling, training processes and practices to supervise staff;
  • Knowledge of work place health and safety programs.
  • ABILITIES

  • Reliability Status security clearance - You are required to obtain and maintain this security level throughout this employment at Parks Canada Agency.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a valid Class 5 driver’s licence or equivalent.
  • You must be willing to work overtime.
  • You will be required to work shift-work, and / or weekends, and / or statutory holidays and provincial / territorial holidays as scheduled by your delegated manager.
  • You must be willing to work and travel in a variety of terrains and weather conditions in the performance of the duties.
  • You will be required to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • You may be required to wear a uniform while performing your duties.
