Location : Hybrid; primarily remote, but with occasional travel to Toronto Provincial Office or a regional office as needed

Salary : $68,000 - $72,000 / year

Position Overview
Reporting to the Training and Education Supervisor, the Training and Education Specialist, with a focus in Occupational Therapy , plays a key role in creating, delivering, and evaluating high-quality educational content and training programs that align with Autism Ontario's mission of creating a supportive and inclusive Ontario for autism. This role supports the capacity-building efforts of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring content is evidence-informed and accessible to diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities :
- Contribute to the implementation and assessment of strategic goals specific to Autism Ontario’s training and education programs, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to training delivery, including content accuracy, accessibility, and cultural relevance, while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Actively participate in team discussions, planning sessions, and project updates to ensure smooth and efficient operations within the Training and Education department.
- Design and deliver training sessions, workshops, and professional development programs tailored to diverse audiences, including caregivers, providers, organizations, and internal staff.
- Ensure that training programs reflect Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles, and reflect different modalities and accessibility needs.
- Develop evidence-based resources, such as one-pagers, guides, and modules, for Autism Ontario staff and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal teams, such as French Services, Adult Services and Communications, to produce training materials that align with organizational priorities.
- Develop and deliver training and education for educators, caregivers, and service providers to build awareness and capacity in OT-related interventions.
- Facilitate capacity-building initiatives, such as train-the-trainer sessions, to expand organizational reach.
- Evaluate the impact of training and education through feedback collection and performance metrics to inform continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to contribute to collaborative projects, research initiatives, and pilot programs focused on autism education.
- Conduct organizational assessments and provide recommendations to enhance inclusivity and accessibility, such as environmental assessments.
- Support collaborations, such as with professional OT associations and service organizations, to advance Autism Ontario’s educational offerings.
- Provide Occupational Therapy expertise and serve as a knowledge resource for internal teams, including Care Coordination, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Sciences, or a related field (Master’s degree an asset).Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in education, training development, or facilitation, preferably in the autism and non-profit sector.Preference will be given to candidate with experience in Occupational Therapy or Recreational TherapyStrong understanding of adult learning principles and experience in creating engaging educational content.Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB).Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking and workshop facilitation.Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.Proven ability to collaborate across teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Familiarity with autism and related supports / services is an asset.Strong attention to detail and a creative approach to problem-solving.Demonstrated commitment to principles of social justice, neurodiversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism, anti-Black racism, anti-ableismBilingual proficiency (French / English) is an asset.Autism Ontario offers a great work-life balance, a competitive benefits package and RRSP contributions.
