Senior / Intermediate Property Claims Specialist

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Claims Specialist to join our clients Claims team based downtown Toronto.

Key responsibilities
Technically manage an interesting and varied personal caseload of commercial property claims that include catastrophe claims, large losses and complex losses, whilst maintaining our extremely high standards of both quality and customer service.
The caseload is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
- Proactively handle all allocated claims, effectively communicating with all key internal (Leadership Team, Underwriting, Risk Control, Actuarial) and external stakeholders (Customers, Brokers and Service Suppliers) from initial notification through to final settlement.
- Contributes to the design and implementation of claims policies, processes and procedures, products and services.
- Conducts analysis of statistical information and KPI's to identify trends, improve performance and support remedial action.
- Monitoring, maintaining and developing personal knowledge and skills through continued professional development, supported through insurance related courses as well as on-going at the desk coaching.
Knowledge, skills and experience
- University Degree, College Diploma or equivalent insurance experience
- CIP qualification or a willingness to achieve qualifications within an agreed timeline
- Previous commercial property claims handling experience (10 +)
- Strong negotiation skills both verbal and written
- The ability to assimilate and comprehend information
- Track record of delivering excellence
- Ability to handle high call volumes effectively
- Excellent attention to detail
- Energy, focus and an interest in personal development
- Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize workloads accordingly
- Willingness to take full ownership of each individual claim
- To be able to demonstrate a clear appreciation of the need for exceptional standards of customer service
